Why custom software is ultimately cheaper

Théo Carcouet

SaaS licenses pile up. €20 here, €50 there. At the end of the year, the bill is steep for tools used at 10% of their capacity.

The math is simple. A generic SaaS costs CHF 50/month/user. You have 20 employees. That's CHF 12,000/year.

In 5 years, you've paid CHF 60,000. For a tool you don't own, that can raise its prices tomorrow, and that does 1,000 things you don't need.

Asset vs. rent

Custom software is an investment (CAPEX). A SaaS is an expense (OPEX). One adds value to your company, the other enriches Silicon Valley.

And what about Swiss data sovereignty?

Non-trivial bonus: with custom software hosted in Switzerland, your data stays in Switzerland. No Patriot Act, no CLOUD Act, native FADP compliance. For a fiduciary, a law firm or a medical practice, this is simply non-negotiable.
